Shashi Tharoor is going now to be the next Vice President of India. He is being nominated by the member of the ruling party as such, I am told.
As an Industrial journalist I am having very less contacts with these political people. Few of them are not my friends but I like them. Mr. Shashi Tharoor, a Ex- External Affairs Minister at a time when Sonia Gandhi was a Congress CEO and was running a National Partee.
Shashi name has been stucked in my mind because of an actor Shahi Kapoor. Shashi Kapoor was most humble and respectable man for me since one of film distributor Mr. Rajeev Ghadge was the distributor for CP & Berar area. He had his office at Amravati and film reels booked from Mumbai used to come at Badnera Railway Station and from there it used to be again loaded in train for Amravati.
Raju (Rajeev) asked me to come along with him at Badnera Station since the film reels reached at Badnera station late & after two days. The next day was Friday a MAHURAT for film to be released. We requested to handover Railway Receipt at Badnera station instead of Amravati so that we shall carry it to Amravati. As a technical aspect they should hand over the Film Reels at Amravati station. The box of film reels which we should have got in the morning … we were able to get it by last local train from Badnera to Amravati, at that time in 1984-1985.
Shashi hero became my favourite then and I liked him for his simplicity, namrata and be casual in films even he appeared an hero. Shashi Kapoor’s Hindi Film “HASEENA MAN JAYENGEE’ was one of the reason for me to watch16 times, in ANAND TALKIES, Nagpur & that too without ticket because the distributor of it was Late Harichandra Ghadge, a father of Rajeev Ghadge, my friend. I may be in 6th or 7th standard at the time Hasina Man Jayengee was released. Even I was La-a-loo and could not able to understand the story narrated a film. Shashi’s role impressed me much at time I heard of COLLEGE ME BOOK NAHI LE KE JATE, SIRF LECTURERS HOTE HAI. MAR NAHI PADTI HAI … JYADA KEEYA TO “TC” DEKAR NAM NEEKALA JAYENGA. Even to reach in college was not every body’s step and I never entered in any college premises to know the college life, in those days.
SHASHI was a hero & villan both in 1964 hindi film HASEENA MAN JAYENGI.
His role as a hero was an great assists whereas his villan role was a lesson to one to learn good things in life. IT continued till the release of ROTI KAPA AUR MAKAN. Where as a businessman Sashi Kapoor played an honest businessman role to pay the income tax. Even he paid off his income tax after he borrowed the money on loan.
Tharoor & Kapoor in my mind are the same men, same personality, same attitude and same way of looking at the society. I witnessed the talk then Shashi Tharoor had given on the foreign land. He said, I am recalled that “Democracy” in India has got a new charismatic dimention to its folds. Shashi continued by saying the “Our Prime Minister is a Sikh which is in monority group in India , he said. Our supreme decision making Congress, CEO is a foreigner lady and our then President was a Muslim where the hindus have had its majority.
He cotinued in giving his cent percent cleaned golden democracy ornaments if any one asked and questioned about democracy in India.
Now he is going to be the next Vice President of India. He said that some one nominated his name from within the ruling partee. His name is there, he continued. Further to it he said that since election for VP is on the strength of Lok Sabha & Rajya Sabha members. Then who is going to be a next VP since the ruling partee have its majority, in both the houses, he questioned the media gently.
