Where did the congress word come from. It is from the British parliament. We repeated it in India and got pride within us as congressi. My father was a congresses and was a pure congressman.
My father used to speak for himself as a congress sevak. He wanted to be strong enough to face any designated post to him but as a congressman first. Congress KARYKARTA alias congressman he was from his attire of Dhoti, kurta and topi and his owned bicycle which was identity of his presences, if he is not available on the stage.
He was a well disciplined congressman. There was no doubt he would have to pay Corporation Billa (token) on the very first day which was compulsory municipality tax levied on those having a bicycle on those days. A lamp or a small lalten to be fitted on Cycle Chimata if he goes out for any work after sunset was a municipality rule of law, he abides it in his life.
My father’s living was very simple and he was GANDHIWADI. His dress was always a white khadi kurta which was pressed at night under his sleeping beds pillow. Those days I never saw him ironing his clothes and there was only one ELECTRIC IRON available in my Bastee. His sleepers were used by him until there was no place to put a nail or a space to make any silai (stitching) to it.
He was a helpful man. But his help was with a simple mortgage and a small interest on the amount he lends to others. We were also poor but not so poor even if we used to depend fully on the ration shop. My mother used to make sweets on Diwali time & shall wait till the sugar came in our ration shop.
But on those days I was attached with the RSS Dhantoli shakha. Late Dilip Devdhar was a RSS fully devoted man at that time who was in the bad books of my father as a congressman. The first and foremost thing I observed in RSS SHAKHA and it was discipline. My father also used to love discipline but was against RSS, which was against congress ideology. I was then in the standard 6th and I got an injury in my back while playing Hu, tu, tu. Late Vilas Devdhar, a brother of Dilip Devdhar, a known leader forced me in hu, tu, tu but pounced upon me like a horse, that his both legs injured me badly on hu, tu, tu ground, in shakha.
I got an injury it the shaskha ground and in my own house as well when my father ordered not to extend any help to recover with any medicine. My mother did help me as against the will of my father, I recollected today also.
My younger brother will bring biscuits and tea in the morning when my father is in the bathroom. There were no attached bathrooms at that time and so I used to get my two time milk-cup when my fathers was there in the washroom either.
I was not served by my own family members but was treated morally well by my colleagues who became more close to me in my bad days of injuries. My RSS LATHI was put on the fire and my relations with the shakha structure was abandoned.
It made my consciousness senseless for my liking with RSS SHAKHA which was at that time used to open in the sunsets time at Joshiwadi, behind Kure’s School, Sita Burdi Branch, Nr. Railway Bara signal. Now, there is no ground and there is Zopadpatti, encroached by the people of all sects. Kurvey’s School’s structure built in the pre-independence era. But you will see this zopadpatti came after the independence era i.e. unauthorised high rising structures.
I should not blame CONGRESS OR RSS. They may good or bad in their leadership. But yes RSS has got a look about nation building. I should repeat again and again that slogan I had repeated since my school days that … JAYASTE SADA VATSALE MATRUBHI. TAYA HIND BHOOMI SUKHAM VARDHITO HAM.
