Mother took the ‘street Samosa’ to enjoy it at the Metro Railway Station at Nagpur. The Route 1&2 intersect station at Sitabuldi is a boon to enjoy these road shops of Pani puri-Bhel puri from the STABULDI KHAV HUB at the upper floors built east to west and north to south interchange Metro Station. It is good you get easily anything at this hub but it make extra efforts for the SAFAI KAMGAR to work, all round the clocks to maintain cleanliness. We as such don’t have a KHAV GALLI as there is in Mumbai. But we have a hub of Khav at Sitabuldi Area. In those days when steam engines were in existences Sitabuldi Loha Pull was a Khav Hub for KANCHA SODA BOTTLES to Tipple XXX WINE BOTTLES. It was a hub of mandirs all around in the vicinity. Right from KALI MANDIR & TEKDI VARA-CHA GANESH mandir, HANUMAN mandir, MATA mandir, VITHAL RUKMANI & SHANI Mandir. For the passengers traveling from North towards South bound trains and vice versa as well. The steam engines train used to take a halt at Nagpur to shift its steam engines opposite to take south directions for the south destinations at Wardha Station. Now it is SEVAGRAM STATION after Bapu Gandhi’s kuti (Hut) near Wardha Railway Station.
The steam engines trains used to take half an hour to be loaded with Water to create steam and Coal to heat. The coal mines at the outskirt of Nagpur still have Head Quarter of Western Coal Fields at, Civil Lines, Nagpur. Sitabuldi was the attraction for many reasons on those days. There are 9 theaters in this area more in its numbers than the Fort Area, at Mumbai.
So our Khav Hubs at Sitabuldi was destined to all railway passengers to those going by a fastest train Grant Trunk (GT Express) from south to Delhi and Delhi to South and again vice versa. Trains steam engines were full filings its thrust of Water & Coal. In process, passengers were satisfied with Mandir to Masjid visits and one’s own need of BHOOK they TOOK cotton Nagmani cloth from the Tata’s Empress Mill out-let store at Santra Market. In those days, Nagmani cloth was a Majar-Pat-Kapda. It was in those days a superior cloth & one’s own prestige to wear the shirt after PRESSING it by a KOYLA-IRON-PRESS.
Now Abhyankar Road should be named as KHAU ROAD to make its different identity from MUMBAI KHAU GALLI. It is hub now here at Nagpur. As such FASTION STREET is at Mumbai. World famous Brand restaurant “HALDIRAM” you will see at the other side of the metro building wall at the Sitabuldi Metro Station. In the same line there is THAT-BAT, LADU-CHIWADA, NARAL- BURFI, KARANJI-CHAKELEE, SATARA PEDHA and ANAND BHANDAR MISTEE RESTAURANT HAVE ITS EXISTANCE EVEN TODAY the renovated restaurant in fact with Thali Bhoj at the Naivedhyam Restaurant in the area.
Variety Square now has INOX on the same land of variety theater was. It existence in a todays mall at the same place. Bapu Gandhi statue in middle of the round circle at variety square is shifted now there at the one coroner who is not looking at the young girls and boys open chest cloths. Women now has got a new look in their Salvar-Kudata almost changed their SAREE-BLOUSE ATTIRES to look young. From variety square to lo-ha pull there is ONE WAY CEMENT ROAD built in British Time, I am told. Is well known Sitabuldi Market from decades.
There is new Abhyankar Road, with multiple eateries and other shops for your own need. The other side from Metro to Loha pull is MODI NO. ONE to MODI NO. 3 then a HANUMAN GALLI and then BHAJI MANDI and now there is Electronic Market, once a Teli-Pura with only one mithai shop from 5 decades famous now is PAKODEWALA at Bhaji Mandi.
You may purchase Gold and do make of it a ring or a chain in Modi line 1 & 2. May go for your reading books in modi line 3. At the Hanuman Galli you may have good tailors shops with toys for you to play with your children. May get all kinds of Electrical to Electronics materials from Electronics market and if you have interchange train tickets you may go in for any of the Cinema. In those gone days passengers used to have KARD tickets which allowed break your journey after 300 km and one day break for every 100 km thereafter. From Delhi to Nagpur it was one and half day journey and for Chennai (Madras) it was another one and half day.
Now the high speed trains are there with a high speed electric engines. But now High speed OLA and Auto Rickshaws replaced by man-self-moving Cycle Rickshaw to reach at this an elevated Interchange Metro Station. For those who want to have city rides. They may take another trains from Nagpur those have their education in Nagpur. Those by gone days there was no LLB degree college available in south states and the students used to come at Nagpur to get their law degree. Our Ex Prime minister Narsimha Rao was one of those law students of Nagpur University, I am told.
Forget about those by gone days of Extreme HOT & Extreme COLD Santra Nagari, Nagpur. Now with AC METRO STATIONS which may make your journey comfortable if catch a Ola and you test a food in this “Sitabuldi Khav Hub”, at Nagpur. But your Samosa wrapped over by the news paper to wait for a METRO may create dirty look of yours. Reaching at the plot form of Metro Interchanging Sitabuldi Stations to keep uneatable half Samosa in your mouth and wrapper of it thrown on metro platform, mind well is an extra work to maintain cleanliness to the HOUSE KEEPING STAFF of Apli Metro.
