ALP-POHAR at Sharma Stall

The post came on my WhatsApp the other day. That way, oftenly, I do repeat, not to see mobile to my Grand Daughter. But this post came from my UP Bhaiyya friend and he got a Pani-Puri, Vada-Pav stall at CST, opposite to BMC in line of old Zunka Bhaker.
He used to come from Nala Sopara and goes at Night by 9.30 train. Whole day in his shop he seats near AAG-BHATTI on the first ladder step which goes to MALA. It is just adjutant to his seating, Sir “CHULLA BHATTI” may be at one or one and half feet long from his seat . Mala in Mumbai is like a SAJJA for keeping luggage or even to seat, sleep and to stand if you want, on your knees .
He took this his business of Pani-puri, Vada-Pav from his father, I am told.
Mr. Sharma is my friend from last two decades. On his Pani-Puri, Pav-Bhaji, Mumbai Bhel shop he has also have a cold drink to serve his customers. But see, he shall make you THANDA by his words or with his appearance as well. Indeed there is a business since this shop is opposite to CST and a place in between Capital Talkies and Bombay Municipal Corporation. A long beard this Mr. Sharma has got unique style of attracting his customers. So most of his customers are from profession of journalism. Officer from BMC have their daily round after a lunch and a namaste call to this Sharma jee. At this Alp-pohar Stall, he comes daily to have the relaxation, said one of them.
To me, he is more than friend rather family member since we know each others UN SEEN family members. To me it is stall to greet him by saying HALLOW if I move from this narrow lines where the construction of Metro station is going on.
Mr. Sharma is VALYA if you looked at him. He is Walmikee Rishi if you came across his conversation. He is SADHU SANT, if he explore his ideas and while talking to you in front of his shops he attracts the attention of by-passers. But at the same time you will notice that he stares at his workers. They have liberty to handle the customer even they pay less, behave all of them like managers and handle the Cash of customers by opening of cash box to the end of closing, to keep the cash in it.
This Sharma Alp-Pohar keep his shop closed on Sundays whereas each one on the Zunka Bhaker line, has their Sunday business. Unique in style when Sharma jee speaks … keeping his mouth busy with Pan and keeping watch on every activities of his staff.
“TUUU IDHAR AA. PAHILE RAGDA BANA. ABE DHYA-N KIDHAR HAI TERA. CUSTOME SAMHAL PAHILE ” are his words, he shouts while talking with you. You have to listen it because you are facing him and no excuses to the passer by to listen this beared man words.
He is BRAHMIN, OR U.P. BHAIYYA OR A SADHU SANT if you looked at him or he is a Maharashtrian Sharma in “PASINA.” The owner he is, no he is one worker amongst every one if he is at work. But he is more in his versatility, listen his ideas, knowledge he has got, story he is telling you and the glimpses of it when he clears it if you have a doubt. He and his father got birth in Mumbai. So he is fluent in Marathi with U.P. assents’ to it.
CEO, Samir Shah, of Sun Light Steel Ltd., Mumbai will not leave an opportunity to have his NASTA from this Sharma Alp-Pohar to whom I took along with me to this stall a decade before.
Listen and Go through Mr. Sharma’s acquired knowledge at his DAHI-PURI, PANI-PURI, RAGADA PETIS AND AT VADA-PAV STALL…at Sharma Alp-Pohar.
